The Story

Lioness E The Book is to help children identify their inner voice and use it to help build resiliency. Based on events of Evelyne Keomian’s childhood, a young girl dreams of going to school but her gender and poverty are preventing her dreams from happening. But E has an inner voice and a friend that helps her dig deeper and find ways to turn her challenges into opportunities. Through the poetic writing of Fernanda de Olivera and the warm and colorful African village set by Laura Dallagata, E and her friend Lioness explore and build resiliency.

As the team works on this project in 2020, we realize there has never been a better time to help children identify their inner voice and use it to build resilience. Children around the world are faced with unprecedented challenges, school closure, distance from friends, and loved ones. These challenges, like many more challenges children, will face throughout their lives, can be used to strengthen their characters.

The proceeds of Lioness E The Book are dedicated to supporting the mission of the Karat School Project and contribute to girls’ education throughout the world!

The Cause

The Karat School Project (KSP) is a direct service nonprofit organization that aims to help break the cycle of poverty through education. We believe that education is the most sustainable way to help break the cycle of poverty and to tackle most of the issues that plague our world today.

Founded by Evelyne Keomian in 2018, we serve children and women who live in extreme poverty by providing education, meals, and other urgently needed necessities. With a school in the Ivory Coast and initiatives present in Guinee and in the USA, the KSP has impacted over 1200 lives to date. The proceeds of LionessE will be dedicated to educating young girls to ensure a better future for themselves and their families all while reducing child marriage, female genital mutilation, child labor, and hunger.

Evelyne Keomian

Evelyne Keomian is a mother, social entrepreneur, and author. She believes in philanthropy as an act of the overflow of our heart and not from the abundance of wealth. Evelyne has dedicated her life to educating children, especially girls as a means to help break the cycle of poverty. Since founding the Karat School Project (KSP) in the early 2018, Evelyne and her team have impacted the lives of children and women in the Ivory Coast, Guinee, and in the San Francisco Bay Area through their various programs.

Evelyne credits her perseverance to get education as a girl crowing in poverty to her strong inner voice and determination. She hopes LionessE will encourage children to become resilient by drawing from their inner strength all while helping pay for girls’ education.

5 Ways To Help Your Children Build Resilience

Growing up in Ivory Coast, West Africa as the youngest of seven children, I dealt with many challenges and uncertainties that culture and circumstances left unaddressed. Education for a girl was a very low priority, but I wanted to go to school. I taught myself how to read and sold cold water at a market to make my tuition. Fortunately for me, I have a strong coping mechanism that helps me transform challenges into positives, which builds my resilience. Even today, I draw on my inner strengths to help me navigate life.
